SUK SUK presents the story of two closeted married men in their twilight years. One day PAK, 70, a taxi driver who refuses to retire, meets HOI, 65, a retired single father, in a park. Despite years of societal and personal pressure, they are proud of the families they have created through hard work and determination. Yet in that brief initial encounter, something is unleashed in them which had been suppressed for so many years. As both men recount and recall their personal histories, they also contemplate a possible future together.
SUK SUK studies the subtle day-to-day moments of two men as they struggle between conventional expectations and personal desires.

A Ray Yeung Mini-series
Two screenings of Ray Yeung's most recent films, Suk Suk and All Shall Be Well, both centre on the stories of older queer people, Suk Suk on older gay men, All Shall Be Well on older lesbians. For the first time this ESEA Heritage Month, we're screening both films across two nights. These two films are a thread connecting us to our elders, the ones who navigated hostile landscapes, preserved chosen family, and reimagined what queer life could look like long before it was safe to do so. Screening them together is a chance for ESEA queer folks and allies to recognise the resilience of those who came before us, and to carry their stories forward as part of our own evolving thread.
Director:
Ray Yeung is a Columbia University MFA graduate. He has written and directed four features and eight short films. Ray’s third feature SUK SUK (TWILIGHT’S KISS) World Premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2019 and had its European Premiere in Panorama at the Berlin International Film Festival 2020. The film subsequently screened in over 50 film festivals worldwide.
